Santa Inez Mission
The 19th of 21 California Missions, Old Mission Santa Ines was established by Franciscan priests from 1769 to 1823. With superb views of the Santa Ynez River Valley and Santa Ynez and San Rafael mountains, the Mission continues its role in the spiritual life of Santa Ynez Valley as an active parish church. Old Mission Santa Inés remains rich in tradition, legend, and history, housing a rich collection of paintings, statues, vestments, manuscripts, and artifacts. A taped audio tour guides visitors through the Museum rooms, church, and garden. As you tour this picturesque Mission, you will be enriched spiritually by the drama and tradition within the walls and grounds of “The Hidden Gem” of the Missions. The Mission also hosts annual festivals, parades and horseback riding and cycling events, such as the Story Telling Festival, Fiesta, and Rancheros Vistadores. Visit www.missionsantaines.org.
