Some say “it’s a man’s world”, but when you hear “weekend getaway” , oftentimes it appears to be more of a “woman’s world” when it comes to the desire to travel and where to stay on that getaway. Women tend to seek “quaint and charming” while the gentlemen are happy if there is just a giant screen tv where they can have access to sports. According to Santa Ynez Inn guest Darrel D., the Santa Ynez Inn is a blend of the best of both worlds for the ladies and the gentlemen.
“Don’t let the Victorian ambiance fool you,” Darrel says, “a visit to the inn is a treat for the men, too.“ Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Darrel is an avid classic muscle car fan and loves car cruising, sports, hiking, traveling and classic rock-n-roll. He is , by all definition, a “man’s man”. So why did he choose the Victorian-elegant Santa Ynez Inn for his getaway with his sweetheart? “She loves wine country & high-end service and I love all the outdoor activities available here in the Santa Ynez Valley,” he said. “It’s an ideal jumping off base at which to stay to enjoy any activity or visit any place in wine country.” Darrel then mentioned all the activities that he enjoys when visiting the Santa Ynez Valley: bike riding, hiking, horseback riding, annual car shows (Solvang) and the great breweries for tasting. “It’s not just about wine tasting, which is great,” he said, “the breweries- specifically Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company- are fantastic and a great place to enjoy, too.”
Darrel’s favorite Santa Ynez Inn amenities include enjoying the outdoor jacuzzi under the wine country starry night, the incredibly comfortable bed, taking the evening dessert to the room to enjoy in front of the fireplace , the big tv in the room and enjoying breakfast on the terrace of the inn with the morning paper.
When asked what he thinks first time guests will notice most when they arrive at the inn, Darrel mentions he was struck by the gardens and the quiet, calm atmosphere as you enter the beautiful front door and are greeted by friendly voices welcoming you on the other side.
