Santa Ynez Inn guest Stephanie caught her first glimpse of the inn running the Wine Country Half Marathon, which starts right where the inn is located. Little did she know that that first glimpse would lead to a regular love affair with the inn, providing her and her husband Jim with a much-needed “local getaway” on a regular basis. “My husband and I needed some close-to-home R&R,” she says, “and the moment I walked through those big heavy doors, I was immediately put at ease, like weight being lifted off my shoulders. I knew I was going to be in Heaven for a day.” She then joked, “I let my husband know that this is how I want our room at home to look like…and I’m still waiting.”
What was Stephanie’s initial attraction to this wine country luxury inn? She lived in Napa Valley for 15 years and loved everything about it. It was “peaceful, serene and a depiction of the past”. When she first set eyes on the Santa Ynez Inn, the same feeling came back to her and she felt drawn to the inn and its lovely Santa Barbara wine country setting.
All the amenities only add to Stephanie and Jim’s fondness for the inn. They enjoy the wine and appetizer hour and the choice of wines is “spectacular”, according to them. “The appetizers were more than I anticipated and I really enjoyed the bruschetta. But truthfully, all I could keep thinking about was Dessert Hour,” she said. “I actually eat less at dinner to save room for the Santa Ynez Inn Dessert Hour!” Between decadent wine and hors d’oeuvres, desserts and amazing home-cooked breakfasts, Stephanie says that they probably gain “happy pounds” and in her book, those are “good” pounds. On her next stay, she says they plan to indulge in some of the inn’s other amenities, including massage as well as facial services provided by Heidi at Serenity Spa.
Originally a New York native, Jim is an electrician and avid Harley Davidson rider. Stephanie is a native of Santa Barbara and works for a research institute and owns two direct sales businesses, including Lindt Chocolate RSVP and WillhowHouse. Together, they enjoy wine, trying new cuisine, new movie releases and especially love taking trips to the Santa Ynez Valley with their Motorcycle Club “The Brotherhood of Carpinteria”.
